Piano & Voice Lessons
-
I believe music is a physical and meditative experience, not an intellectual exercise. Making music is about quieting the brain and tuning into our sense of sound and touch. One must first hear and feel, and then the “why” of how it is all put together is easy and makes sense. My job when teaching is to help each student cultivate their own unique connection to music. In order to do this, every lesson includes a balance between meditative improvisation and exploration of sound, and the development of essential musicianship skills, like reading notes, rhythm, and understanding harmony.
Every lesson is designed to meet each student where they are in the moment - adults, children, beginners and professionals - we are all musical beings with something to share.

Singing Circles
-
If you can speak you can sing, and if you have a body you can make rhythm.
This is the foundation on which Sarah's singing circles are built and from which grows a rich space for musical exploration and play.
Sarah's circles incorporate traditional folk songs in multiple languages, poems, movement, circle games, improvisation, rounds, stories, and layered sounds.
